From cell biology to CRISPR gene editing technology – the Life Science Learning Lab at the Berlin-Buch research campus offers both students and teachers the opportunity to immerse themselves in science. This year, “Gläsernes Labor” celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Isolate DNA, ask questions, make new friends: During the Easter holidays, refugee children and young people from Ukraine were able to take part in free experimentation courses and experience guided tours of MDC research laboratories at the Berlin-Buch Campus.

Claudia Jacob is a trained biologist who has a passion for explaining how things work. Young talents from the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT) will start in February in Berlin at the nationwide competition for young scientists "Jugend forscht". On March 11, 2016 stem cells were on the timetable for a number of students in Berlin with a keen interest in biology. More than 200 high school students from 15 Berlin schools attended Germany’s first UniStem Day, hosted by the MDC in Berlin-Buch. The new action day with a focus on current stem-cell research, organized by the German Stem Cell Network (GSCN), was all about arousing students’ curiosity, answering their questions, and providing them with information about stem cells.
